Lorraine ensures that all its products, if it's Natural then it will be 100% Natural without any blend of any harmful or substance that are harmful or risky to humans or the environment. REACH legislation, which came into force in 2007, governs the registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemicals within the European Union. Comprehensive data are gathered through REACH, which imposes high requirements on the manufacturers, importers and users of chemical products. All substances on the European market that are used or imported in annual quantities exceeding one metric ton must be registered and evaluated. The scope of evaluation work is largely determined by the quantity produced or imported and the expected risks. Particularly high-risk substances are subject to regulatory approval.
Although Lorraine produces and is mainly engaged in the 100% Natural Essential oils, but essential oils also belong to Chemical industry and if we export to European market thye still applied to the REACH. For the consideration of this regulation and also the sustainability, we applied the Pre-REACH registered for Eucalyptus Oil and Eucalyptol and continues to expand other products in the REACH list.
GHS (Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals) is a United Nations initiative for harmonizing the classification and labeling of hazardous substances. It is up to individual countries to decide whether to adopt the system, and, if so, which modules to accept, and when. GHS was introduced to Europe in January 2009 with the European Regulation on the Classification, Labeling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (the CLP Regulation). We started adapting our safety data sheets to meet international GHS requirements back in 2007 and are continuing this process in line with the GHS implementation deadlines set for the countries to which we supply products.
Natural Essential Oils often can be used directly as ingredients of Natural flavor and also used as the raw materials of Flavor and Fragrance industry. This sector has been undergoing a revolutionary upheaval in its global environment and market conditions. Several major drivers can be distinguished behind these changes, including shifts in consumer demand and technology, changes in national policies, and globalization. These drivers favor the emergence of large, integrated multinational firms. An industrial kosher certification provides an economic advantage , a serious method of traceability, a response to problems of globalization, and at the same time a guarantee of food safety. In 2006, Lorraine's products were approved and got the Kosher Certificate, a new step to Sustainability.
